Phase 5: Resolution

As with Givens’ five stages of courting, resolu­tion is the final stage of the online dating courting process. After the first meeting, individuals know whether they are sexually attracted to and whether they want to learn more about their date. If they are still uncertain, they might set up a couple more dates; however, they will generally do so while checking out other options on the site. If they are confident they are interested in moving forward they will typically take themselves off the site. Problems arise between couples if expectations are not meet and one is discovered to be still actively using the site when the other has taken themselves off.
