Our analysis was based on the fieldwork that focuses both on the personal accounts of female and male ICT professionals, and on the statistical analysis of aggregate questionnaire data. We have subdivided the analysis in three categories, the first section focuses on the demographics of the respondents, their gender, age, working patterns, nature of employment and personal information with regards to their living patterns, take up of state and private childcare facilities, and caring responsibilities. The second section focuses on the image of ICT in the two countries, the nature of technical skills required for entry in this sector, national statistics on the number of women in ICT — comparative analysis. The third section focuses on the experience of women in the workplace, organisational policies available, take up and awareness of policies — an evaluation of how policies are translated into practice, women’s coping strategies and incentives, benefits and motivations of working in this sector. The fourth section focuses on the structure of power and how women’s empowerment could benefit progression and retention rates of female employees.
