British urologists Kevan Wylie and Ian Eardley’s review of more than 50 studies since the 1940s into ‘small penis syndrome’ (SPS), published in June 2007, found that men have more sexual confidence if they have a large penis. Their findings? Women are more interested in looks and character, and width rather than length. While 85 per cent of women are happy with their partner’s size, only 55 per cent of men are satisfied. The average erect penis is about 5.5 inches to 6.2 inches long and 4.7 to 5.1 inches in girth. Penis size does not differ according to race or reduce in size in older men. In the 1940s, the Kinsey Institute found homosexual men had larger penises than heterosexual men. The condition of SPS is more common in men of average size than those with small penises, and is blamed on comparisons made with erotic imagery during youth.
